Independent Bookstore Day is an annual celebration that honors indie bookstores across the United States and the important role they play in local communities, culture, and the literary world. It was launched in 2015 after a successful pilot program in California in 2014 and it takes place on the last Saturday in April each year. This year it falls on the 3rd Anniversary or Birthday of my local and favorite Indie Bookstore in Gatlinburg, Tennessee – The Next Chapter Bookshop!
The Next Chapter Bookshop is located at 600 Glades Road in Gatlinburg, TN which is part of the Arts and Crafts loop of local small businesses. Shopping at indie bookstores supports local economies and helps keep unique businesses alive in the age of big-box retailers and online giants. These stores champion new and diverse voices in publishing and promote reading as a joyful and enriching. The Next Chapter Bookshop, for example, provides local reads, supports local crafts, and offers comfortable places to sit and check out a potential read on your TBR list! It even offers internet service so you can check with family and friends about a possible selection.
Independent Bookstore Day is a day that brings toether people who love books, appreciate the magic of browsing shelves, and want to connect with like-minded readers. Stop by The Next Chapter Bookshop on this special day (April 26, 2025) or any day to enjoy your favorite book finds!
